Making his mark and impressing the Canberra Raiders hierarchy, Emre Guler will stick around after signing a two-year extension.
That extension signed by Guler will see him remain with the Raiders until the end of the 2023 season.
Guler had a breakout 2019 season and although he suffered a late injury in 2020, he had shown enough to convince the club to re-sign him.
After a frustrating 2020 season for him personally, Guler wants to make amends and get stuck into season 2021.
“I’m really happy to get it done,” Guler said.
“I just want to look forward to training hard and getting myself ready for round one.
“It’s good to get it out of the way and focus on footy now.”
With the Raiders forward depth strong, Guler knows slotting in is easier said than done, but he wants his trial form to do the talking for him.
“You look at the [forward pack] on paper, there are such good names there,” Guler said.
“It’s going to be a tough year, there’s a lot of competition and you can just tell that here at training.
“I’m hoping to have a strong trial and put myself in a position to get back into the team.”
The club believes Guler can and will grow and develop as a player over the next three seasons.
“It’s another great sign for the club to have young players wanting to re-sign and continue their development in Canberra,” Raiders Recruitment and High-Performance Director Peter Mulholland said.
“We’re still yet to see the best of what Emre can bring on the field and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to establish himself in the NRL.”
